Le mercredi 29 septembre 2010 à 15:25 +0200, Wolfgang Bornath a écrit :
> 2010/9/29 Gustavo Giampaoli <giampaoli.gustavo at gmail.com>:
> >
> > IMHO that wiki is to "slow". IRC is too "real time". MLs are the right
> > mix between both. With MLs you have enough time to think and write
> > your idea very clear. And is fast enough to have lot of answers in a
> > few minutes.
>
> May I emphasize your point about IRC:
> IRC has one major drawback. All information, ideas, opinions given on
> IRC are only available to those people who are present in the moment
> when such ideas, opinions and informations are given/discussed. All
> other people (the vast majority) is not present, even dedicated IRC
> users are not online 24/7.
>
> So IMHO important issues should never be discussed on IRC, less
> somebody posts related excerpts on the mailing list related to the
> issue.
>
> IRC is good for short question/answer communication to solve a problem
> at hand, IRC is good for scheduled meetings of not too large groups
> (8-10 participants to the max to be productive). But it is not suited
> for overall discussions you may want to refer to a couple of days
> later.

I was planning on adding a bot that log conversation, like we do on
#mandrivafr ( with nice stats too ). I have also set up a meetbot
instance for meetings.

But I agree that for better accountability, we should have big
discussion on ml.
