<PRE>Hi
Been recently thinking about it again how I shouldn't need to resend (re
dent) Mageia news to the Mageia group on Identica, or make my own
messages with the news instead to the group, because the Mageia account
should be sending to it in the first place and ideally the tag as well.
<A HREF="http://identi.ca/group/mageia">http://identi.ca/group/mageia</A> <A HREF="http://identi.ca/mageia">http://identi.ca/mageia</A>
<A HREF="http://identi.ca/tag/mageia">http://identi.ca/tag/mageia</A>
Last year for example when mentioning the Identica issue on IRC at
times, there was a time when I was told to contact the marketing
mailing list about it. Something that I didn't bother to do at the time.
I think that the news should go to where it is meant to on, Twitter,
Facebook, and Identica, but also other sites such as Google+.
With another program news can be sent from Diaspora which like Identica
is a open social networking site. News can be sent from Diaspora to
Identica, and then from Identica to Twitter. Then I think some how
news can be sent directly from Twitter to Facebook as well. Twitter does
not have an official way to send to Identica.
The current way of sending the news has not been working that well for a
long time now, and it would be great if this issue can be finally
properly sorted out.
I am rather used to my work around sending the news myself to Identica's
Mageia group and tag, but this is still an issue that I think should be
properly sorted out. Not that long ago I also sent some myself to Diaspora.
There is also someone who it seems wants to promote Mageia more on
Diaspora, but it seems that many of those messages will also go to other
sites as well such as Identica and Twitter.
In the past the Mageia account has sent to the Mageia group, but very
rarely.
Just being a bit more clear Identica has a bridge to Twitter it will
even convert ! to #. ! is used to send to the !mageia group for
example and # is used to send to the tag.
When I re dent news I make sure it gets sent to both the group and tag.
In the past on Identica ! would send to the tag as well, but that hasn't
been the case since when the site got re designed last year and new
features got added.
We should also be taking all of the social networking sites seriously
where Mageia has a presence, and so really Identica should still be
mentioned on the site as well for example.
Before Mageia 1 Identica and Twitter were both mentioned on
<A HREF="http://magiea.org,">http://magiea.org,</A> but then Magiea 1 got released and Identica stopped
being mentioned.
I hope that this message makes enough sense, but if not I can try and
explain better later on
I would also like to become an admin of the Mageia Identica group, so
that I can deal with any fake accounts for example.
For a long time the Mageia group on Identica didn't even have a display
picture, even though the Mageia account had a logo for quite a while.I
had even been in communication on Identica with people who were
wondering about that before.
One day suddenly the group had the logo, and someone else had been made
an admin of the group, I assume it was them who uploaded the logo as
well. I contacted them about how they had been made admin, but only to
get a reply I hadn't been expecting. I later found the Identica
conversation that they had with @support requesting to become an admin
of that group..
