Yes it really seems to help a lot. Many lists with high turn-over rates
tend to benefit from it when top-posting occasionally begins to get out
of control.
The hard part is finding a coy way to deliver the suggestion w/o
offending the top-poster.
I find that simply explaining that I didn't understand due to the lack
of context, coupled with offering a link that may explain how to fix
that, offends much less often than the saber rattling and flaming that
many well intentioned list admins engage in.
Bottom line, if someone insists on top-posting after they understand why
not to, then most folks I know just tend to filter their emails to
/dev/null anyway.
As you indicate below, the important thing to always remember is that
even though someone is top-posting, their intent is indeed to be
contributory and participatory, and not to prompt folks to filter them
or delete their posts as a result of bad form.
I've been a bit lax

> people at work who just don't know the right way (and get mad if you
> tell them).
>
> As an aside, are you standing or voting in the team election, or both?

Well when I step into the polling booth (What mechanism are we going to
use for voting anyway?). I'm certainly not considering anyone for the
Team Lead position except you :)
hm... That certainly does break with my tradition of never telling *who
I intend to vote for*. Doesn't it?
But due to ambiguities contained in the logs, I'm not clear as to
whether we can have two council reps from Marcom or not. So until I'm
clear on that point, I've offered to throw my hat in only for the deputy
post at this time.
Regardless, and to be considerate of others who would like to also
participate in a more official manner, I would only offer to serve in
one or the other position.
Kindest regards,
