Abut the same experience here.

I almost always do clean install, even new home, and then i just copy back 
mail folders, browser settings folder and such.

Usually during the year i have cnanged my mind about how i wanto organise my 
files, whatis beatifyl GUI settings etc, anyway... :)

But actually i am holding back on the machines I use myself because they work. 
Still running mga1 on my server &amp; my workstation, and my laptop mandriva 
2010.2...
