> Your message is awfully short of details. What I'd like to know

>
> 1. What is your laptop's model and specifications?
>
>
> It is a Toshiba Satellite L745-S4210. Specs from manufacturer's

The first thing I'd suggest is going into System Settings > Desktop
Search and turn off all indexing. If that solves your problem then
you can either leave it off, or try closing all other software and
letting the indexing happen overnight or while you are doing something
elsewhere. The initial indexing does take a lot of resources and many
people have found that their computers run hot while it is working.
Usually, once the initial run is complete, it doesn't cause any real
problem.
