>>> 19.06.2012 17:41, Simple w kirjutas:
>>>> As always Colin interventions are quite clarifying.
>>>>
>>>> But i thought there were more software like this, like for example
>>>> there was in mandriva PLF
>>> Most of this software is in nonfree or tainted.
>>>> Wouldnt be possible for someone put these software build in some
>>>> third-party repo (untill the apps that need faac change)?
>>> You can always create that repo if you wish.
>>
>> I thought about building faac and rebuild gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
>> but atm in Mageia building faac doesnt seams to be possible, build
>> breaks.
>>

> blogdrake provides faac libfaac libfaac-devel for mageia2
>

>
>
> you can use and modify the spec file from their srpm if you want to
> package faac yourself

I have tried building faac, but the problem is i use Mageia Cauldron,
and faac does not build in cauldron:
/usr/include/string.h:369:28: error: ambiguates old declaration ‘const
char* strcasestr(const char*, const char*)’
Colin even pointed a website that referred a solution to this and in
fact let the build go further but still broke.
So for who uses cauldron like me is stuck regarding faac use, of
course some developer could investigate this and could build faac and
put it available in some third party repo...
> You can download the srpms from mageia2 for vlc quicktime gstreamer
> audiokonverter xine mplayer ffmpeg etc... and rebuild the packages after
> having validated the build with faac in the spec files...
>
> after having installed the buildrequires for each of them...
>
> If you need handbrake or cinerella you will have to write yourself the
> spec files
>
> The answer seems to be do it yourself !!!! (that's a repo for nearly 10
> programs built with faac)
>
>
> Waiting for a solution from Mageia, I kept my Mandriva 2010.2 on the
> computer (with plf rpms), beside Mageia, to work on multimedia files !
> I know now that it seems to be a definite no go !!!
> after having been told several times to wait for a new discussion about
> non-free+tainted repo, I hear now that we have to wait until programs
> are ported to libvoaacenc
>
> Don't know if I'm gonna struggle anymore ...
>
>
> To Sander who replied to me :
>
>>> Nevertheless, until it's done and good there's no solution to work on
>>> mp4 or mpa or aac files with Mageia2 ... and certainly won't either
>>> with Mageia3 ... people who need that will go elsewhere.
>> Well, we really can't hold them back. Can we? :)
>> Sander
>
> Sorry I surrender !
>
>
