Maybe instead rpmdrake should only show one entry in the table per package 
name, and in the detail, show releases and architectures, allowing the user to 
choose, but defaulting to e.g. x86_64 on x86_64, and allowing the user to 
specify their preference for non-free, tainted etc.?

That sounds less usable to me.
