Thanks for that.
Sadly this test shows things working as expected when you do it
manually. Lots of things included now in bin/ and a sensible size from
the resulting initrd.
You can probably boot to the new kernel using that initrd now. (just: mv
foo.img /boot/initrd-3.2.6-desktop-3.mga2.img)...
And yet again the problem hides itself... :s
