> > > Hi,
> > >
> > > I've spoken with spturtle about the tainted packages rebuild of existing
> > > packages (ffmpeg, mplayer,...)
> > >
> > > He mentions he did local builds of those, and is waiting on a BS change?
> >
> > Everything is on the bug report
> > https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=338 ( that you likely could not
> > miss )
>
> I suppose i should've put the link in my email...
>
> > Personally, I think this can be fixed after with updates ( ie push
> > updated rpms with support for specific codecs after the release is out )
> > so this should not be release critical.
>
> I kind of disagree with you here on 2 points:
> - I estimate(wild guess) that if there is even 4hours between release and
> these packages appearing, that you're already gonna have at least one person
> complaining about it

And so ? I think that I clearly articulated my point about complain in
the past, something about "patch or you do not exist", some ruthless
motto geared toward efficiency.

More precisely, how many people would complain if the release do not
appear in time, after having worked so hard to meet the deadline ?

> - If you say, after release is fine; then it'll likely take more than a week
> after release to have those packages on the mirrors, because at that point
> people will just want to "fix" the BS the correct way...

Technically, even before, it should be the right way. We had enough
issues with stuff "that will be fixed later" on Mandriva side that I
think we learned the lesson, like "we will clean the buildsystem later"

( so it was running forked version of youri, with no spec on how it
work, with script auto correcting mirrors silently, etc )
