Could you try with the new kernel 3.1.4 as things are now?
If that doesn't work, boot into the old working kernel, do a "urpmi
dracut" and then recreate the initrd by doing the following as root:
rm -f /boot/initrd-3.1.4-desktop-1.mga2.img
/sbin/installkernel -N 3.1.4-desktop-1.mga2
Then reboot into the new kernel and see if it works better.
