+OK, then one possibility is to make KDE use defgault settings.

+KDE store user settings etc somewhere in the hidden folder .kde4 in your home

+will recreate it with default settings.

+Rename, do not delete!

+If it works, think about if you want to copy back some applications files/data 
+from the renamed folder.
+There are a lot of apps in  ~/.kde4/share/apps
+notably the kmail folder if you store yourmail there.
+
+You wil then have made a fresh start of everything you did not copy back.

+Possibly instead of all above you could just rename whatever that folder is 
+where KDE store its settings you have problem with... maybe 
+~/.kde4/share/config/
+(again, while not logged in as you)
+
+I think you should try that first
+
