+I'm using photos I provided myself instead of the default pictures.
+
+The strange thing here is that, if I log-in and -out (I guess GDM is
+relaunched), then it works fine. That is what makes me think of some
+problem associated to the booting process itself. This happens only the
+first time after booting the machine.

+It is useful on laptops and also on desktops.
+I use intel procs:
+4CPU : i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz (mageia 1)
+2CPU : E7300 @ 2.66GHz (mageia 1 and cauldron)
+On both machines, the lower frequency is 1.60GHz and I have set the governor
+to ondemand.
+
+In MCC-&gt; services, cpufreq was enabled, but in fact was not working.
+
+MCC has no tool to configure cpufreq
+
+The plasmoid &quot;Afficheur de charge syst&#232;me&quot; (what is name?) shows the cpu
+frequency when the cursor is above it.
+IMO, ksysguard should also do that.
+
+A question: Why is there cpufreq and cpufreqd?

+</I>Oh, good! I was just trying to figure all this stuff out for my Sempron
+64 desktop. I had expected that it would be set up automagically if I
+had &quot;Cool'n'Quiet&quot; enabled in the BIOS, but now I learn it isn't. A way
+to make this easier would be high on my list of desirable things, too.

+You shouldn't need a permanent daemon, since this is all handled by the
+kernel.
+Also, by default the &quot;ondemand&quot; governor seems to be enabled, which is
+what you want (it conserves power when no demanding task is running).

+AFAIU, cpufreqd is obsolete. The kernel is able to change power state
+depending on load without the help of an user-space daemon.
