> 2. The "advanced" option evidently is a possibility - I consider it
> slightly annoying, a radio-button would make life easier -
> respecting the same sequence of defining users is no problem. In
> fact, what I presently do is, I initially define a dummy user
> during system install with whatever system install creates as ids,
> and than use MCC to set up the real users; but that illustrates
> the point: the radio-button proposal would make this less time
> consuming.
I don't see the logic in your doings.
If using a button as you propose you have to use the same order in
creating the users, so you have to write down, in which orde you have
created them.
Wouldn't it be easier to write down their UIDs and GIDs and use the
existing advanced button?
And wouldn't that be a lot easier then the dummy user way you are
using at the moment?
And a second problem: As Michael pointed out, there are at least 4
"starting UIDs" arround, so the whole purpose of your proposal is
ruined when having more then two distros...
A better way (but not as easy to do) would be to parse existing
/etc/passwd files on other partitions and propose to take the UID/GID
settings from those.
