Many users of the forum have run into problems with Mageia 2. We've
talked about this in last council meeting and I have no doubt that this
will be discussed in mageia-dev meeting and that the problem will be
properly addressed.

There are boot-nonfree.iso's that contain the proprietary divers
(including Ati Radeon). Links to the iso's can be found at the bottom of
<A HREF="http://www.mageia.org/nl/downloads/">http://www.mageia.org/nl/downloads/</A> Make sure you choose one with
*nonfree* firmware.

I'll send a cc of this reply to mageia-discuss ml. Manuel is correct:
the bugsquad ml is not meant for this. If you want to reply, please do
it to: Mageia general discussions &lt;<A HREF="https://www.mageia.org/mailman/listinfo/mageia-discuss">mageia-discuss at mageia.org</A>

A lot of spam moderation is avoidable, too. There are certain

</I>Yes, something about a deal with Google that future Linux versions of
the plugin will be a part of Chrome and not released separately. Mozilla
refused to go along. I don't know the details, including whether the new
Flash-players will work with Chromium as well.

I'm a farmer, and I sometimes miss the local TV weather broadcast, but I
can watch a Flash video of it on the station's website if I do. Also,
from time to time I like to watch videos from the local newspaper, and
of course, Youtube. Not to mention the occasional instructional video.

I tried both Gnash and Lightspark from the repositories, finding that
only one Flash-playing plugin is allowed in Firefox. Only Adobe's
offering played everywhere. Gnash seemed to work OK with Youtube, but
not with some other sites, like that TV site mentioned above. Lightspark
wasn't much, if any, better. Looking at the web pages for each, I see
that each has had a release newer than the one in the repositories, but
from what I see they haven't developed enough to do what I need.

Could be that eventually, if I want to watch a video I'll just have to
use Chrome - no doubt what Google had in mind all along.

</I>&gt;&gt;&gt;<i> I tried Gnash a couple of years ago and wasn't impressed. &#160;But now
</I>&gt;&gt;&gt;<i> I block flash by default (and rarely unblock) so I couldn't say.
</I>&gt;&gt;&gt;<i> When I tried it before, it could be installed the same time as
</I>&gt;&gt;&gt;<i> Flash. The latest version is in core. &#160;So why not try it and see ?
</I>&gt;&gt;&gt;<i>
</I>&gt;&gt;&gt;<i> As I understand it, Adobe is planning to phase out support for all
</I>&gt;&gt;&gt;<i> flash in favour of something based on HTML5, but I could be
</I>&gt;&gt;&gt;<i> mistaken.
</I>&gt;&gt;&gt;<i>
</I>&gt;&gt;<i> The current version is, according to Adobe, the last one that will be
</I>&gt;&gt;<i> released for Linux.
</I>&gt;&gt;<i>
</I>&gt;&gt;<i> Anne
</I>&gt;<i>
</I>&gt;<i> Yes, something about a deal with Google that future Linux versions of the
</I>&gt;<i> plugin will be a part of Chrome and not released separately. Mozilla refused
</I>&gt;<i> to go along. I don't know the details, including whether the new
</I>&gt;<i> Flash-players will work with Chromium as well.
</I>&gt;<i>
</I>&gt;<i> I'm a farmer, and I sometimes miss the local TV weather broadcast, but I can
</I>&gt;<i> watch a Flash video of it on the station's website if I do. Also, from time
</I>&gt;<i> to time I like to watch videos from the local newspaper, and of course,
</I>&gt;<i> Youtube. Not to mention the occasional instructional video.
</I>&gt;<i>
</I>&gt;<i> I tried both Gnash and Lightspark from the repositories, finding that only
</I>&gt;<i> one Flash-playing plugin is allowed in Firefox. Only Adobe's offering played
</I>&gt;<i> everywhere. Gnash seemed to work OK with Youtube, but not with some other
</I>&gt;<i> sites, like that TV site mentioned above. Lightspark wasn't much, if any,
</I>&gt;<i> better. Looking at the web pages for each, I see that each has had a release
</I>&gt;<i> newer than the one in the repositories, but from what I see they haven't
</I>&gt;<i> developed enough to do what I need.
</I>&gt;<i>
</I>&gt;<i> Could be that eventually, if I want to watch a video I'll just have to use
</I>&gt;<i> Chrome - no doubt what Google had in mind all along.
</I>&gt;<i>
</I>&gt;<i> TJ
</I>&gt;<i>
</I>
For youtube you can enable HTML5. For the rest of the websites, I
guess we'll use chrome :s

<PRE>Morning Dev

This is just a follow up email after the packagers meeting on behalf of QA.

* At packagers request we have recently been trialling the use of one
bug report where updates cover both releases. So mga1 and mga2 on the
same bug. So far it has been working quite well. Complex ones like php
have been using two bugs so if you do this please use common sense as to
whether it needs two (or more) or could be put onto one.

One which should really have been split was the recent postgresql update
where 8.4 &amp; 9.0 for mga1 and 8.4 9.0 &amp; 9.1 for mga2 were all on one bug
report. It could have been better with one for each version. Luckily
there was nothing wrong and validating went without a hitch but if
something was wrong then it would have been very difficult to keep track.

* As we are now mostly using one bug report for this type of update we
need a simple way to be able to spot those bugs. With current bugzilla
it is not possible to set multiple releases. We'd appreciate if you
could follow the bugsquad policy for this.

It is quite simple and elegant really. Set the 'Version' to 2 and add
MGA1TOO into the 'Whiteboard'.

Doing so will enable QA to see straight away that the bug has updates
for both releases.

In the meeting an action was set with the wrong keyword 'MGA2TOO' so
please ignore that, it should be 'MGA1TOO' as 'Version' will already be
set to '2'.

Much appreciated
Thankyou
Claire (MrsB)
