Happy to see bug 358 quite resolved and seeing tainted repo populated with
new specially built rpms beside core ones (libpano; and ffmpeg, xine, vlc,
mplayer, libquicktime, gstreamer )...

Two little problems remain :
1) libfaac is missing ...
no problem for ffmpeg : voaacenc is in the tainted repo instead and used to
build ffmpeg with the patches provided by videolan
But there can't be anymore libquicktime-faac (buidfailure needing to
disable this building option) nor gstreamer-faac ...
Audiokonverter (if it is pushed with spec imported from plf ) will fail to
build (requiring libfaac too) will need to be built without this option,
and won't be able to encode aac

2) win32-codecs is missing too (perhaps might it be in non-free repo
instead of tainted ) and maybe some problems may happen trying to read
some videos

why not to provide faac libs ?

Nevertheless I congratulate everyone for such a huge work you did ... and
for the transparency of every discussion !

Best regards
Philippe

- there is no sources -&gt; non-free
- there is no actively enforced patents problem, as copyright holders

<PRE>hi,

after release, there are a lot of perl modules to be updated (at least
196 regular modules according to magpie).

however, please refrain from updating them: i'd like first to update

<PRE>Hi,

as we have uploaded the new version of mageia-release, some of you may
have seen that urpmi sources have been changed to use
distrib/1/ instead of distrib/cauldron/ , especially if you didn't touch
to the default configuration.

Not all mirrors are in sync, and in fact, most are not proposing the
stable release yet ( especially the main mirror ), as we are still
working on it.

So urpmi is likely broken for most testers that updated in the last
hour.

So if you are affected, you can either
1) wait until everything is working ( likely tomorrow )

2) drop all sources and add again the cauldron one by hand
( urpmi.addmedia --distrib + url )

3) change /etc/mageia-release by hand, replace &quot;1&quot; by &quot;cauldron&quot;

If you are not affected, just refrain from updating mageia-release until
we finish the work on the mirrors.

Things should be working fine once the release is out, so have no fear.
As we are busy, do not hesitate to forward for us the mail on forums,
identica, others ml, and direct people who have question on -dev.
