Just a quick note to mention something I observed:

when editing a commit log entry with:

svn propedit --revprop -r r123456 svn:log
svn+<A HREF="ssh://svn.mageia.org/svn/packages/">ssh://svn.mageia.org/svn/packages/</A>

(this command was given to me by Anssi and works fine)

the log entry on <A HREF="http://svnweb.mageia.org/">http://svnweb.mageia.org/</A> never shows the edits, it keeps
showing the original entry.

18 hours have no passed since I did the propedit so I have to assume that
this is not just a delayed sync (unless it's updated only once every
24h?).

Well, it depends if we wait for nvidia+fglrx.
Since we do not currently build binary dkms anyway (hint, hint!!!), we may not
wait for those.

At least I'm waiting for most important drivers to be released with
1.10 support,
that is at least:
- input: evdev, synaptics, wacom (+mouse, +keyboard)
- video: ati, intel, nouveau,

But I would not move into core/release until most hw support is available for
1.10 (that is eg SIS video driver but not citron input driver)

&gt;<i> I would also not put in core/testing, as i doubt people use this.

</I>
This enables _not_ to have broken installations.
Though this should not happen now that I've added strict ABI requires for
input &amp; video drivers.

<PRE>Hi to Mageia

I am part of rpm5 (but I follow rpm from more than 10 years) and
recently I did join Mageia, although I almost always used for work
other distros and OS (AIX, SVR4) that I also deal with Mandriva and
security (CEH) https: / /
www.redhat.com/wapps/training/certification/verify.html?certNumber=805007215126804&amp;verify=Verify

Apart from the rest - of which i will ask for sponsorship when it will
be - I wanted to know if there are plans to move to rpm5 by Mageia,
such as Mandriva has been doing lately. Rpm5 already has a builtbot
with Magela and rpm5. I can, if you can think useful or have plan for
this, lay the necessary modification to enter into rpm5 Mageia, with
the features of Mandriva cooker - fingerprint, syslog, etc. without
trademark ecc- and produce a first rpm rpm5 for mageia , which also
contains the functionality required by the passage to the &quot;RPM
ACID &quot; feauture (berkeley db conversion)

is there interest? Then if someone wants to directly participate in
rpm5 I think that there should also be no problem.

Opinions ?

Well we have always interest in open source projects. BTW Mageia
packagers team is for now quite small and focused in building first
stable version which means importing and working on needed packages to
be imported.

We are already lacking mentors among official packagers.

So I guess rpm5 is not for now a priority given the size of pending
todo list. Also If we do have a look on it, we will for better have a
team on it rather than one guy to avoid single point of failure.

</I>
It can. The synchronisation of adm ( 1200 revisions ) take 16 secondes :

# date ; svnsync -q copy-revprops <A HREF="file:///svn/adm/">file:///svn/adm/</A> ; date
Wed Mar 2 16:00:24 CET 2011
Wed Mar 2 16:00:40 CET 2011

ie 75 revisions per secondes

On a bigger svn like packages ( 62612 revisions ) :
# date ; svnsync -q copy-revprops <A HREF="file:///svn/packages/">file:///svn/packages/</A> ; date
Wed Mar 2 16:00:50 CET 2011
Wed Mar 2 16:19:56 CET 2011

54 revisions per secondes, for 19 minutes.

If we take the size of data that others distributions are handling,
Mandriva is now at 640000 revisions.

Using the hypothesis of 75 rev/s, it would take 2h20, and using 54
rev/s, it take 3h20.

So it could be done, but a smarter system need to be found ( like
syncing just when there is a change, using a post commit script )

</I>Hi,

Please read the archives we already talked about this several times on the ML.

We are using rpm.org for now, and we are happy with this, we are
already working with rpm.org teams and this works pretty nice.

But you can go and help mandriva as they have several problems with rpm5.

In addition, rpm5 ( i hate this name as this makes think rpm5 is a new
version of rpm which isn't true ) is just another rpm and i think that
this is better to stay compatible with the most distributions (
fedora, opensuse, ... ) instead of using rpm5.

This is just my opinion but i would like to not see rpm5 thread again
and again, that start for my part to become boring.

regards.

As you can see from the other reponses, we are preoccupied with other

But if you can help Mandriva solve their problems with rpm5, you

Clever decision, I fully agree.
Switching to rpm5 was weeks of discussions, troubles and works for Mandriva.
I can guess that rpm5 is better... but better for who ? Users see only a
system which works without problems.

Note: this is my first post on Mageia. I have installed alpha one on a PC and
I find the result is very good. For example I succeded to have the sound on my
external Delta44 card. It doesn't work since Mdv 2010.0...
I have however found some bugs. Where and how can I report them?

<PRE>Hi to Mageia

I am part of rpm5 (but I follow rpm from more than 10 years) and
recently I did join Mageia, although I almost always used for work
other distros and OS (AIX, SVR4) that I also deal with Mandriva and
security (CEH) https: / /
www.redhat.com/wapps/training/certification/verify.html?certNumber=805007215126804&amp;verify=Verify

Apart from the rest - of which i will ask for sponsorship when it will
be - I wanted to know if there are plans to move to rpm5 by Mageia,
such as Mandriva has been doing lately. Rpm5 already has a builtbot
with Magela and rpm5. I can, if you can think useful or have plan for
this, lay the necessary modification to enter into rpm5 Mageia, with
the features of Mandriva cooker - fingerprint, syslog, etc. without
trademark ecc- and produce a first rpm rpm5 for mageia , which also
contains the functionality required by the passage dell'rpmdb &quot;RPM
ACID &quot;, among others, in this rpm5.

There is interest? Then if someone wants to directly participate in
rpm5 I think that there should also be no problem.

Opinions ?
