>>> 2011/2/6 lebarhon<lebarhon at free.fr>:
>>>
>>>> No, it is about the content, misuse of words, repetition of clauses,
>>>> omissions, vagueness...
>>>> It isn't a problem so far, corrections can be brought during the English
>>>> version improving.
>>>>
>>> 2 points:
>>>
>>> 1. It is good and important that misuse or wrong spelling of words are
>>> reported. But the French original version is not just a text like blog
>>> entries or website contents. It is a legally binding document, so it
>>> can not easyly be changed like the other texts.
>>>
>>> 2. The english version has no legal status at all, it is not legally
>>> binding, it's contents can not be used in legal discussions - it is
>>> only a translation for the international readers to understand what
>>> the official statutes are talking about.
>>>
>>> --
>>> wobo
>>>
>>>
>> So should we write somewhere the possible improvements to the French
>> legal document (be they typos or misuse of words),
>> and when we're done with the translation (which is alsa a proofreading
>> of the French text), send all those suggestions at the same time so
>> that the French document can be updated?
>>
>> If that's what we choose I will restore revision 1 on the page
>> mageia_org_statutes, and maybe create a page
>> mageia_org_statutes_errata to stock our suggestions?
>>
> IMHO this is a very good idea. The original version should be restored
> and this way you can provide the people in charge with the complete
> list of improvement suggestions.
>
>
The fact is, to translate a text, the original must be perfectly
understanded and translation is an excellent proofreading. The web page
mageia_org_statutes_en still have the French text with comments in italic.
