For backports QA is mandatory, but not in the same level, or it would be 
updates... it's imho also not doable to test this just as well as updates.

for updates, it's important that it works without any visible change, it has 
to work needlessly 100%, you must be sure that updates are 100% safe.

backports is a new version. it means it's an upgrade project for people. it 
means you will backup your files and test it first, then put into production.

I know this definition sounds subjective, but it's one i keep in mind. if i'm 
assured this'll have no problems, it's ok for me to update imho.

Of course, she does. i'll definately test it. this is exactly why i want 
backports to have.
