Le 18/12/2010 14:58, Wolfgang Bornath a écrit :
> Given a large enough number of people who comment about this you can
> not be alone. A logo and/or visual design is always a topic with the
> highest number of comments, so the probability of several people with
> the same opinion is very high. This applies to all opinions about the
> topic. The conclusion from this is that whatever design is chosen
> there will be a certain number of people who will find it totally
> ugly, not matching, disgusting, whatever.

Well, yes... the ratio it depends then on the logo. :)

> Thomas, whatever sort of artwork you will be supporting with the logo,
> it will not be that "black/white thing" as you are afraid of. :) As
> already announced the logo is in "refinement stage" and there will be
> a logo for all official things coming from the association, while
> communities will have a certain scale of freedom to change colors,
> etc., policy about that following soon.

Ah, I did not know that. Is it written somewhere to know what I have missed?

> So, all people looking at it and being scared by the "white/black
> thing" - pls wait with your verdict until the whole process is over.

All right. ;)

> And another point. As usualy only those, that disagree will say it
> aloud. All the people, I've been in contact with (German community,
> German i18n group as well as those of the international i18n people
> who were in the IRC before our first meeting, were quite happy with it.
>
> So, saying: "everybody hates it" is just wrong.
>
> Oliver

I have never said everybody hates it. From what I see, there are many
people who appreciate it, but there seem to be many other who do not as
well. Hard to estimate though, I am awaiting the comments from the press
side and see if it widely reused or not, and if it is easy and effective
on the marketing side.

Then, as I have said previously, you have had the opinions from people
you are in contact with, me as well (essentially from the school where I
am studying computing). This does not add much to the issue, except it
is difficult to estimate the impact of the logo then.

Now, the logo is in refinement stage, I am in wait & see mode now. After
all, there are as simple (and not easy to appreciate) logos such as
HTC's one, that are not reused at all, but are okay on products
depending on the way they are presented and set.

It's okay, I won't moan anymore until the final adaptations of the logo,
promise. :-)
