small image that contains no more than that which is needed to start the
drakx installer and find either: </para><itemizedlist><listitem><simpara>the <emphasis role="bold">online sources</emphasis> (or the local mirror)</simpara></listitem><listitem><simpara>the ISO image on a local <emphasis role="bold">hard disk</emphasis> or
<emphasis role="bold">USB stick</emphasis></simpara></listitem><listitem><simpara>a imagem ISO num <emphasis role="bold">CD/DVD ROM</emphasis></simpara></listitem><listitem><simpara>the ISO image on a <emphasis role="bold">lan</emphasis> (local area network)</simpara></listitem></itemizedlist><para>para continuar e concluir a instalação.</para></section><section><info><title xml:id="bootIso-ti12">Antes de começar</title></info><para>The Mageia-&lt;version>-netinstall-nonfree-&lt;arch>.iso (former known as
boot-nonfree.iso) contains additional proprietary device drivers, which may
be required for your network device, disk controller or, perhaps other
device.</para><note><simpara>The Mageia-&lt;version>-netinstall-nonfree-&lt;arch>.iso and
Mageia-&lt;version>-netinstall-&lt;arch>.iso files can be used to launch a
network install over a wired or wifi unencrypted network.  (Encrypted wifi
or bluetooth not allowed)</simpara></note><warning><para>Unlike when installing from DVD or LiveCD, during the first part of the
installation, <emphasis role="bold">Stage 1</emphasis>, you will be asked to
type things. During this stage, your keyboard will respond like an <link
ns6:href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_layout#United_States">American
keyboard</link>. This can be very confusing when you need to type names and
paths.</para></warning><para>You can find the Mageia-&lt;version>-netinstall-nonfree-&lt;arch>.iso and
Mageia-&lt;version>-netinstall-&lt;arch>.iso <link
ns6:href="https://www.mageia.org/en/downloads/">here</link>. It is called
Network Installation.</para><para>You can also download these images from whatever mirror you want in this
list <link
ns6:href="http://mirrors.mageia.org/">http://mirrors.mageia.org/</link>.
Just follow the
path <filename>/distrib//cauldron/$ARCH/install/images/</filename> where
$ARCH is i586 or x86_64.</para><para>After downloading the image, burn it on a CD/DVD or, if you prefer to put it
on a USB stick, follow the instructions <link
ns6:href="https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Installation_Media#Dump_Mageia_ISOs_on_an_USB_stick.3F">here</link>.</para></section><section><info><title xml:id="bootIso-ti3">Instalação</title></info><para>This step is also called Stage 1</para><section><info><title>Your computer boots in BIOS mode (also called MBR for Master Boot Record)</title></info><para>The first screen to appear is this one</para><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="dx-help.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject><para>When booting up, you can choose to read the advanced help by pressing F2 and
return to the installer screen with F1.  If you don't choose one, the boot
will continue with default settings.</para></section><section><info><title>Your computer boots in UEFI mode</title></info><para>The first screen to appear is this one</para><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="dx-welcome2.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject><para>Use the arrow keys to select <guimenuitem>Start Mageia n
Install</guimenuitem> and press <guibutton>Enter</guibutton>.</para></section><section><info><title>In both modes</title></info><para>Then you can see this screen :</para><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="../Boot-iso01.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject><para>During Stage 1, nothing will be written to your Hard Disk, so it is safe at
any point to quit. You can do so by pressing
<guibutton>ctrl+alt+del</guibutton>.</para><para>You can use <guibutton>alt+F3</guibutton> to read the logs and
<guibutton>alt+F1</guibutton> to return to the installer screen.</para></section><section><info><title>Choose the installation method</title></info><para>Use the arrow keys to move down and up the list, until your method of choice
is highlighted.</para><para>If you don't know what to choose for a <emphasis role="bold">Network
Installation</emphasis>, choose <guimenu>FTP server</guimenu>.</para><para>On an enterprise network, FTP and rsync may be blocked, so using <emphasis
role="bold">HTTP server</emphasis> is a good choice in this case.</para><para>Press the tab key until <guimenuitem>Ok</guimenuitem> is highlighted and
then press <guibutton>enter</guibutton>.</para><para>For an installation from hard disk or USB stick, see below.</para><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="../Boot-iso02.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject></section><section><info><title>Selecting network connection type</title></info><para>If you have several network cards, choose the right one.  <mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="../Boot-iso03.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject>If you don't know what to choose, choose
<emphasis role="bold">DHCP</emphasis></para><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="../Boot-iso04.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject></section><section><info><title>Setting host name and domain name</title></info><para>If you don't know what to do: leave it open and select "Ok"</para><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="../Boot-iso05.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject></section><section><info><title>Proxy HTTP</title></info><para>Leave open if you don't know what to do</para><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="../Boot-iso06.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject></section><section><info><title>Select a medium</title></info><itemizedlist><listitem><para>If you choose to specify the mirror manually, you'll have to type the path
to your preferred medium. This can be very hard if you don't have an
American keyboard.</para></listitem><listitem><para>Selecting Mageia (with the applying version) will give you a list you can
choose from by moving up and down with the arrow keys.</para><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="../Boot-iso07.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject></listitem></itemizedlist><section><title>Specify the mirror manually</title><para>Whichever server you choose, listed <link
ns6:href="http://mirrors.mageia.org/">here</link>, it should use the same
tree-like structure from "mageia" (or "Mageia") as used by the official
Mageia mirrors. That means .../mageia/distrib/&lt;version>/&lt;arch></para><para>A correct entry (when using an official mirror) in the "Mageia directory"
field below, could be:</para><para><emphasis role="bold">pub/linux/mageia/distrib/cauldron/i586</emphasis></para><para>Another example for Mageia 5 x86_64 would be:</para><para><emphasis role="bold">pub/Mirrors/Mageia/distrib/5/x86_64</emphasis>.</para><para>Other mirrors may have a different structure and the screenshots below show
such examples:</para><para>If you chosed a HTTP server:</para><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="../Boot-iso08.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject><para>If you chose a FTP server:</para><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="boot-iso19.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject></section><section><title>Mageia n (selecting a mirror from the list)</title><para><itemizedlist><listitem><para>If you get a lot of missing dependency errors later in the install, reboot
and try a different mirror.</para></listitem><listitem><para>After choosing an FTP server, you get a screen where you can add a login
name and password if required.</para></listitem><listitem><para>After this step, <emphasis role="bold">Stage 2</emphasis> will be installed
and started</para></listitem></itemizedlist><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="boot-iso8.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="boot-iso9.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="boot-iso10.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject>This is the first Stage 2
screen, see Installing - Stage 2 below:</para><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="boot-iso11.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject></section></section><section><info><title>Installation from Hard disk</title></info><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="boot-iso12.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject><para>If you choose to install from hard disk or USB stick, you must know where
the iso file is saved. First, select your hard drive (or USB stick)</para><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="boot-iso16.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject><para>and then the partition</para><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="bootimg8.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject><para>Then specify the directory or the file name of the iso.  Leaving open or
using the directory is easier, because the installer then offers you a list
of directories and files, from which you can select with up and down arrows,
as seen by the second image.</para><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="Bootimg9.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject><mediaobject><imageobject><imagedata fileref="Bootimg10.png"/></imageobject></mediaobject></section></section><section><info><title><jobtitle>Installing - Stage 2 </jobtitle></title></info><itemizedlist><listitem><para>The first screen you see now, is the "Please choose a language to use"
screen. Nothing has been written to your HD yet. If you want to reboot, go
to tty2 with ctrl+alt+F2 and press ctrl+alt+del.  (ctrl+alt+F7 to come back
if you change your mind).</para></listitem><listitem><para>This part of the install is the same as shown in <link
ns6:href="http://doc.mageia.org/installer/5/en/content/selectLanguage.html">http://doc.mageia.org/installer/5/en/content/selectLanguage.html</link>.
