never mind :) i read the rest of the link you posted and the scripts use 
exactly the above, the only problem is that i have to give a user all those 
sudo permissions, with the old losetup i used to have i simply edited the 
fstab to include the 'users' option and when issuing a mount command as my 
ordinary user i was prompted for the passphrase et voila!
