On a 32-bit system I set up Mandriva 2010.2, installed all updates up
to today. Installed proprietary Nvidia driver, wifi (Atheros) is
working, same as sound and webcam.
Used a Mageia 32-Bit DVD for upgrade. The upgrade process went smooth except:
At the end of the process I wanted to install updates. The system did
something, but then after some seconds went on to the last installer
screen - without any error message.
After initial reboot after installation the system showed a message
that the proprietary driver for nvidia was not found and it is using
the free driver.
Then I had to re-configure wifi access data (password). It turned out
that no media were configured yet (except the install media). Media
setup via MCC worked without a problem.
After I did that I did "urpmi --auto-update" which sucked a couple of
hundreds packages and installed them, including a new kernel. That was
today, 11:30 UTC.
After that I did "urpme --auto-orphans" to have a clean system.
Next reboot built the nvidia module and everything was working.
To my surprise the *Mandriva Galaxy* welcome screen appeared! So this
was not erased, not even by --auto-orphans !
