Hi everyone,

Happy new year, and I hope that everyone has made a resolution to help Mageia
to be a better distro.
So qualified packagers, if you haven't already, would you like to mentor one of
our eager apprentice candidates ?

Since my last notice, we have another apprentice candidate, giving a total of 5
looking for a mentor.

am2605 (Andrew Myers), who has been waiting now for a month.
He is a longtime Fedora, a web developer, interested in packaging related to
Gnome, Java, Eclipse among others, teaching himself Mageia packaging basics.

cddesjar (Christopher Desjardins),
who has basic .deb and .rpm packaging experience, including doing texworks and
jags on Mageia for himself. Would like to maintain these and R-base.

dotmil (Josh King),
who has professional experience with web apps and infrastructure and systems
level apps, and would like to work on similar packages for Mageia. Open to
helping where needed. Previous .deb packaging experience.

luigiwalser (David Walser),
who was a Mandrake packager (before the current build system), currently
working as a Linux instructor and sysadmin, interested in importing some
packages to Mageia that he uses.

dglent (Dimitrios Glentadakis),
who has experience packaging in his personal repos (mageia-gr.org and
previously mandrivalinux.gr) with applications he uses, which he would like to
package for Mageia repos.

You can find more details at:

Mentors, let me know who you take on, and I'll update the tables for you.

Thanks :-)

Anyone else looking for a mentor, let me know so I can add your name as an
apprentice candidate -- or you can do it yourself.

To find a mentor, it helps to also post to this list (mageia-dev), or hang out
on IRC at freenode #mageia-mentoring.

Regards :-)
