The problem is that cron for instance needs to send emails on local
accounts without specifying domain. So I have removed myorigin from the
config file.

I do not understand the exact issue, can you be more explicit ?

Tell me if I am wrong, but we use cron for the scheduler, and this
requires the mail sent to schedbot to end in a specific mailbox ?

The main problem was that we were receiving an email every minute since
last night because schedbot at mageia.org does not exist.

> Tell me if I am wrong, but we use cron for the scheduler, and this

Yes, we could maybe add aliases for this, or change the cron
configuration to select where emails are sent, but this needs to be done
for all cron scripts.

Or can we update youri to specify domain when sending emails to users ?

Emails are sent by iurt using packager tag, where I removed the domain
to reduce spam
We can probably add domain if missing in Iurt::Mail

It is fine, as long as you relicense this data and its use under a
CC-By-SA license or equivalent. Mageia is intended to be totally
forkable from the very start; so all contributions (code, data, doc,
artwork, etc.) to the project are public and licensed in such a way it
is possible to fork. There's no privacy issue in this.

I think we can host those statistic scripts on Mageia servers. Maybe as
part of http://dashboard.mageia.org/ ?

Source code can be hosted on svn.mageia.org/svn/soft/[something], and be
packaged in Mageia, then we can install the package on Mageia servers.

You can synchronize a copy of the SVN using svnsync. With something like
this :
$ svnadmin create /path/to/local/repo
$ svnsync init file:///path/to/local/repo svn://svn.mageia.org/svn/packages

And something like this in cron :
$ svnsync synchronize file:///path/to/local/repo

I don't think svnsync takes a lot of resources on the server (except
the first time when everything has to be downloaded), so if that's
useful it shouldn't be a problem to run it every 15 or 30 minutes.

You can then use your local svn mirror to get all the infos you need.

for deeper, more detailed stats.

Well, IMHO, as a maintainer, it would be nice to have a single portal, where
all the packaging-related tasks could be summarised, e.g.:

-Packages with outstanding security bugs
-Packages in stable release with outstanding bugs
-Packages in cauldron with critical problems (e.g. or other error preventing
installation)
-Packages where update is available
-Unmaintained packages you have committed on
-Package in backports for a stable release with newer version in cauldron

Ultimately, I would actually want it to have a 'fix' button in some cases :-).

I think to get there, we ideally need Youri::Check to be able to write to a
database, and write one nice web app to present all the information, in
various contexts (e.g. typical user, contributor, tester, QA etc.).

My idea is to show statistics of the number of the missing dependencies
and how they are changing in time, to show which are the oldest - and
therefore need to be taken care. It's interesting if it's really getting

I miss a web page with statistics on bugs in packages. It would be great
to have a single web page with a list of packages and number of certain
bugs on them.

I don't really understand the word "outstanding" here?
I would have got categories like critical/release-blockers, normal,
enhancement/wish.
Here is an example:
mgaonline (critical) *#1230 #4002* (normal) _#12_ (wish) #23 #231

> -Packages where update is available
This is already done.
> -Unmaintained packages you have committed on
What do you mean exactly and why you need this?
> -Package in backports for a stable release with newer version in cauldron
We don't really need it now, since there are no back-ports. And I
personally would wait for stable 2 then back-ports for 1.
> Ultimately, I would actually want it to have a 'fix' button in some cases :-).
Feel free to implement it!

It's an interesting idea, but I think it's much simpler to make it
currently in a modular way. Later someone can try to join these
building-bricks.

Thank you for the hint. I'm testing it locally right now... and for now
it doesn't seem to be the ideal solution.

I prefer to synchronize just the needed data - to keep only the newest
version of the ~10,000 SPEC files from the Cauldron directory-tree. This
will be just ~30 MB of data. Mirroring the whole SVN with its history
isn't the best solution (many gigabytes of data!) in my opinion. It
would be doable, but I plan to move the SVN-searcher to a central
server.. and then mirroring the whole tree isn't nice (disk usage!) if
the script is going to be hosted on a central server.

The extracting of svn:log entries is doable only once in the beginning -
and I prefer to annoy the SVN-server remotely to do it.

What do you think, is it possible to connect somehow RSync (or
equivalent technology) to the directory with the freshest SVN? With
rsync it's possible to simply skip certain directories, include the
needed one files - with svn I haven't succeed to do this.. except to
make single svn-sync instances for each file separately.

Yep, but after it fail since it try to loopup in the process table for a
process called xymon ( who doesn't exist ).

So we need to add our own status command, which thankfully was already
done by the script used to start xymon.

I pushed this on svn, see commit r2281 and r2279.

hi,

nelg (in cc:) can now be promoted to regular packager, with full
packager rights.

since he was packager for mandriva, he was quite familiar with the
build-system and the tasks a packager is to fulfill - therefore, the
training was pretty fast.

i remain of course available for him if he still has any questions.

==> can you grant full pkg rights to nelg please?

thanks,
jérôme

Hi,
dotmil is apprenticing with guillomovitch, but has problems getting
mgarepo to work on his system.
He originally wanted to start about 5 months ago, when I assume that he
would have gotten commit rights, but due to health problems had to delay
starting.
He is back now, and I just want to confirm that his problem isn't
related to a lack of
commit rights.

Could you check and let me know ? (On the list or directly.)

Thanks

hi,

this is now time to think to update our bugzilla to the brand new 4.x
( this will help to update to bugzilla 4.2 )

For this i would like us to have a VM pointing to bugtest.mageia.org
which would be a test changes before pushing in production, for this
big migration 3.x -> 4.x this would help to test the db migration.

I though of creating a bugtest puppet template but if you have better
ideas just tell .

thanks in advance
