+You can do something like:
+
+mv ~/.kde4 ~/.kde4-old-"$(date '+%s')"
+
+This will move the ~/.kde4 directory away (and as far as KDE is concerned, its
+settings will be reset), but you can restore it later, or use it for reference
+for older customisations.
