Yep, but let's not get too religious over this and count everyone
holding software patents (I guess you meant those Johnny)
as trolls. Software patents are in most cases used as bargaining chips
or protection to avoid being caught in lengthy legal
disputes with other holders of software patents. And these agreements
might reflect in the cost of the products, as Johnny points out.
If we do give in and are reluctant to implement functions covered by
some US patents, then we're in fact validating the current situation and
playing by their rules.

I did not speak about adding that package to Mageia, as long as it's possible
to do this (it's either OpenSource or at least redistributable).

I just said, I personally don't care and won't do it, since I don't have an
apple device and will never buy one for (mostly) "political" reasons.
Although I have to admit, they are just too expensive as well.

For me this discussion is closed, Shlomi did import it, so it's all right for
the OP and nobody got hurt.
My - rather rude - statement was just an answer to the claim of the OP that
"almost everybody owns an Apple device".

And please, let's remember, although our core values include making the life
easy for the end user (as Romain has pointed out), they also include the
support for the larger OpenSource community - which in my eyes is the more
important!

Gee, you should get out more. I know at least four here locally, and I
spend most of my time isolated on a farm. One is a cousin, another a
neighbor, and the other two are longtime fiends.

One used to be a PC guy, then Linux, and now is an Apple fan. He still
likes Linux OK, but likes Apple better these days. (Shrug.) His choice.
He keeps trying to get me to buy a Mac. When I plead expense, he points
out that there are used/refurbished ones available, and that there's a
LOT of low-cost/free Apple software around.

Aside from the above former Linux user and my brother, who uses what I
set up for him, I don't know any other local Linux users personally. And
quite frankly, I don't have a clue as to what most of the people I know
use, or even if many use a computer at all.

atm, Dexter Morgan, the assignee, maintains 1111 packages, and he has 66

I don't think he would object if someone offered to solve this bug for him.

I see, well in my country mainly some artists (like graphic designers or
movie makers) use Macs - I met 3 persons (but I'm not a friend of them)
who had these computers, one was a designer of web sites, the second a
graphic designer and the third.. an eccentric.

http://ranking.pl/pl/rankings/operating-systems.html shows that around
0,8% computers with internet access in my country run under MacOS.. and
this is nothing (I can simply point maybe 100 PCs with MS Windows
without internet access.. and I don't think that if someone has some
money to spend, and buys Mac hasn't access to internet). Also I don't
know the current situation very well nowadays on the market, but some
years ago there was totally no software for Macs.. and this eccentric
proffessor had to run everything under a virtual machine with Windows...

Well but this is a general off-topic here, my thesis is simple: usually
people who don't have what to do with their wallets choose Macs.
Probably in other countries Macs are relative cheaper and the situation
is much different.

You forgot the professional musician. After all, Microsoft Windows
only became interesting for them in the recent years, as most
software was MacOS only before that, or they was still on their
Atari's (both Steinberg's Cubase and Emagic (former Notator Logic) Logic
was originally only available on Atari. So to state that there was no
software for MacOS are a bit daft.

Already looked at it and tried to fix it. The problem is, the package
doesn't build at all as-is, because presumably it has been built last
time against X-server 1.9 or 1.10, but it won't build against 1.11,
even when adding the relevant patches.
Somebody with more X-server knowledge should take a look at it ...
