Don't know for konqueror, but in Dolphin you can
still Ctrl+F to search. But if you really mean kfind, you need to
whip up some servicemenu, like Ahmad did.
Can't seem to find his mail in the archives, so citing the whole mail here:

A friend of mine came across a similar problem some years ago. After some
investigation what was happening was that he had a 64-bit installation but
the plug-in was only available in 32 bits.

It was some years ago and, of course, it was not on Mageia, so this might
not be your problem but, I guess, deserves a verification.

Hi all,

After seeing the recent threads about hplip testing it seemed
like a good time to play with my "new" printer, that is a year
or so old. It is an all in one printer scanner copier,
a HP DeskJet 1050 J140. It was cheaper than buying replacement
ink cartridges for my old PSC.

It has never quite worked for me. Various Linux installations
do different things. Just dealing with the test pages they
all seem to be missing something; black, magenta, all of the
text, or the bottom of the page. From Mageia it seems to be
missing black. It has been officially supported since hplip
3.10.6, I think.

Has anyone seen that model working? It looks like an
upstream bug, but it is manifesting itself differently
on different distributions. Who should I submit a bug
report to? (And how many?) The good news is that the
scanner part works since the update.

BTW what is LEDM? It seems to be part of the update.

Where else to put them but in core? They are clearly not tainted or

LEDM means Low End Data Model, is also a fax protocol,
and in this hplip update they added LEDM ADF scanning
(ADF = automatic document feed) and LEDM wireless support.

For your issues you should report this directly to hplip developers:
https://launchpad.net/hplip/+filebug

From a short google search it seems for some others with
a recent enough hplip version the printer seems to work,
common problem seems to be the scanner.

Did you check that the printer itself prints a testpage correct
and not that maybe the ink cardridge is dried in?

Well, except that as a chromium-beta user, not only did I miss out on an
update to the latest version and whatever features it might have, I was
never informed that it had been added to the repositories at all. I only
found out when I read it here.

When I installed Mageia, I carried over my chromium configuration from
Mandriva. But Mageia's chromium-stable didn't like that because Mandriva
was at version 12 and Mageia was version 11. So I installed the beta
version, because it would work and seemed a good compromise between the
stable and unstable versions. But I expected a progression, with the
latest version moving through unstable to beta and then to stable, not
leaping over both.

If that's the way it's going to be maintained, it appears that if I want
to get the latest security fixes and features, I'd better stick to the
stable version myself.

Agreed. If you haven't checked it, try making a black copy. I know that
if I don't use my Officejet for 2-3 months, the black can stop flowing.
Generally, removing the cartridge and dabbing the nozzle area with a

Hi,

For me such packages (beta, unstable) have indeed a better place in backport
than in core (update).

As said here upper you can have problems (I don't know if they can be very
important) if you want to downgrade to 'older' version (control on profile
versus extensions/applications/...)

Core (update) = stable, stable, stable and only stable. I fortgot to mention
stable no ? :p

I won't be angry and/or sad if they continue to be on core (update) ;-) just a
thought and open question.

Maybe update for stable should obsolete beta and unstable on stable release. So people can
still get updated to new version and we don't have to worry about them.

This is exactly why Stormi's idea is a great one, welcome i should say: look
around for a mentor, ask andre999 about it (he's the mentoring coordinator)...

The idea is that your mentor will grab those packages for you (since he will
be submitting your packages), until the time as such you will become a full
packager.

i'll help to follow mageia-dev mailing list and go to the meetings on
wednesday evenings on IRC in #mageia-dev. (freenode)

#mageia-mentoring is a channel dedicated to packaging and mentoring, likely
you'll find andre999 there or other people who can help you with this.

good luck!

afaik it's been talked over several times, we're looking to find a suitable
solution that fixes this and also just people who are interested, but atm,
there is a lot to do... and most of it is more important...

To be fair, I didn't come up with that idea, but as it's was a free idea I
reused it :)
