+Actually this can't be a fundamental issue as it works on the tty. I'm
+guessing that somewhere along the way gdm is pulling in the old udev
+library (can't see it immediately but I wouldn't be surprised) and this
+then causes problems with pam_mount which uses libdevmapper which uses
+the new libudev.

+Therefore, I'd hope this is just a product of me not rebuilding
+everything under the sun for new udev...
