+No, GNOME uses /usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/gnome, that's where the
+GNOME upstream wallpaper is:
+libgnome2:/usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/gnome/background-default.jpg

+/usr/share/backgrounds is used by gnome-screensaver (only).
