[Mageia-dev] How can I propose new packages and my involvement, i.e. maintaining them?

Folks,

It's not clear to me how things are going with mentoring and stuff, but here we go: I have made a few packages for Cauldron, and for the time being I've established a personal tiny repo (32-bit only + SRPMs) with them, so they could be tested and updated.

It all started with https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1659

Now, here's the status:
/* -------------------------------------------------------------------------- */

HTML description:

also:

As I am playing with Mageia Cauldron (which will become Mageia 2.0 at some point) and I missed some packages (first things first, a newer calibre), I thought of creating my own packages, based on the fact that two years ago I made at some point an EL5-compatible repo.

As I am writing this, the newest calibre package is to be built and pushed to Mandriva 1 (updates/testing), but as I have tested my build (and patches) for a couple of days under Cauldron, I’ll still keep it here. (It should get obsoleted as long as newer official packages are available.)

The repository is here (32-bit only): mageia.beranger.org/mageia/2/repoview/

It can be installed with:

 urpmi.addmedia Beranger http://mageia.beranger.org/mageia/2/RPMS/i586/

Summary of the contents with versions at the time of the launching:

-- Applications:

* calibre-0.8.6 : complete e-library solution — screenshot (testing fr_FR.UTF8):
    http://mageia.beranger.org/images/calibre.png
  Added as a dependency (needed for e-mail capabilities):
    python-dnspython-1.9.4

* gnaural-1.0.20110606 : a binaural-beat generator

* speedcrunch-0.10.1 : my favorite calculator.

-- Small Games:

* belooted-0.1.4 : the one and only Belote application — screenshot:
    http://mageia.beranger.org/images/belooted.png

* gnome-hearts-0.3 : obviously, playing the card game of Hearts.

* gnome-mastermind-0.3.1 : a funny Mastermind, usually not present in any distro — screenshot:
    http://mageia.beranger.org/images/gnome-mastermind.png

* pushover-0.0.3 : the fabulous MS-DOS puzzle, now on Linux! — screenshot:
    http://mageia.beranger.org/images/pushover.png

* pychess-0.10 : because I like it more than any other Linux chess application.

* pytraffic-2.5.4 : an excellent puzzle based on Rush Hour — screenshot:
    http://mageia.beranger.org/images/pytraffic.png

* quarry-0.2.0 : multi-purpose GUI for several board games, notably for GNU Go, which should be added as “gnugo —mode gtp” — screenshot:
    http://mageia.beranger.org/images/quarry-gnugo.png

-- Small Tools:

* gnome-specimen-0.4 : allows you to compare visually several typefaces at once — screenshot:
    http://mageia.beranger.org/images/gnome-specimen.png

* repoview-0.6.5 — builds web interfaces like the one used for this repo.
  Added as a dependency:
    python-kid-0.9.6.

Just for the sake of it, the packages are (hopefully!) signed with an old GPG key (the declared e-mail is no longer valid):
    http://mageia.beranger.org/mageia/RPM-GPG-KEY-odiecolon
/* -------------------------------------------------------------------------- */

Now, is there any chance that:

(i) some if not all of these packages be approved for inclusion in Mageia?
(ii) myself be accepted as a contributor / package maintainer for Mandriva?

What should I do?

Oh, of course, some people should test these packages, and some other people should inspect the .spec files and patches....

Thanks,
R-C aka Beranger (with an acute accent on e)
