> For firefox, the new release claims to offer some fixes for security

> With Thunderbird, they have been less clear and the version released with
> Mageia is still supported, sort of. Because of this, and for as long as
> this holds, that release will be included with Mageia 1, though newer

>
> I think this is really more of an issue with the new Mozilla policy making
> things hard for Mageia and other distributors, than a Mageia centric
> policy making things hard for Mageia users.

Mozilla policy is making choosing which version to stay with more difficult when
its changes make third-party plug-ins either inoperable or needing maintenance
the nature of which may not be immediately obvious to the uninformed user.
Whether to upgrade and do without wanted plug-ins or not upgrade and keep
wanted functionality operating is not always a clearly delineated choice set.

Just to add to the excitement, when upgrading via the Mageia Control Center,
if one thinks one is unchecking a download to upgrade Firefox, one may find
that Mageia Control Center wants to remove the existing Firefox installation,
rather than merely not downloading and upgrading the latest version. This
level of confusion on the part of Mageia Control Center was very exciting for
the few seconds it took to recognize what was happening, before canceling the
entire update process. If it is the case that Mageia Control Center is not
able to tell the difference between a request to not update an installed
package, and a request to remove that package, then Mageia Control Center has
a major bug that needs attention sooner rather than later.

I just tried to look at this bug to see what it is all about, but even though
I am logged into Mageia Bugzilla, it will not return the bug report 2008 to
me. The little "wait" icon just goes around and around in the window tab.
