Now in Mageia 2 i have 3 dictionaries installed,
aspell-en-7.1.0-2.mga2
aspell-el-0.50.3-15.mga2
aspell-fr-0.50.3-19.mga2

but in the dictionaries list there are 31. 22 variants of English, 6 variants of French, two variants of Greek and Hebrew.

As the list is very long it is not comfortable to choose every time between 31 variants.
I would like to keep only three of them (English, French, Greek)

I did nt have this huge list in Mageia 1.

I noticed something similar with Thunderbird (GNOME). I guess I will have to manually remove them.

Yes, i cannot find out how to do it !

I didn't have time yet to check how Mageia handles this. Mandriva used to have separate packages for each language. So, if Mageia kept the languages separate by packages, all you need to do is remove the packages for the unwanted languages.

I dont think so as the only packages that i have installed are the three above

It's strange. I just checked and I only have these packages installed:

thunderbird-fr-10.0.4-2.mga2
thunderbird-en_GB-10.0.4-2.mga2
thunderbird-10.0.4-1.mga2
thunderbird-enigmail-10.0.4-1.mga2
thunderbird-es_AR-10.0.4-2.mga2

(I manually installed the first two)

In  /usr/share/mozilla/extensions/{3550f703-e582-4d05-9a08-453d09bdfdc6}/ I have the three langpacks. However, when writing an email if I try to choose the spellchecker, I have these three languages but each of them with all their dialects (es-AR, es-BO, es-ES, es-MX, etc; fr-FR, fr-LU, etc; en-US, en-GB, en AG, etc)

In the languages section in the extensions tab I only have the three languages/dialects I have installed.

I guess I will have to open a bug on this.

I opened the bug for thunderbird as nothing proves our problems are related (as I initially thought).
